Pereira is moving up the weight class for his upcoming fight and he is set to face one of the best in the new division. In preparation, Poatan is doing everything he can to make his debut as efficient and memorable as possible. However, the internet has found something to criticize the former middleweight champion for.

After UFC 287, Alex Pereira declared that he was transitioning to the Light-Heavvyweight division. He is set up against Jan Blachowicz, one of the top contenders in the division. Therefore, Pereira has left no stone unturned while preparing for this fight. A few days ago, he was seen training with former rival Sean Strickland. MMA fans were taken aback by that fact alone. Now he has moved to improve his striking skills.

A few days ago, footage of the MMA star sparring with a pro boxer surfaced on the internet. It captures pro boxer Khalil Coe in headgear as Alex Pereira imposes himself, with his typical MMA stance. Pereira hit Khalil with some hard hitting shots while the boxer was coping with the Brazilian’s shots against the rope. Pereira looked good in the clips, and MMA fans showered praise on Poatan’s striking skills.

However, the video was a short clip and didn’t showcase the entire sparring session. New footage from the session shows Khalil was not the only one eating punches. It shows the pro boxer holding his own pretty well against the UFC star as he hits Pereira with some clean shots. Pereira has posted the complete video on his YouTube channel showcasing this sparring footage. However, netizens were quick to point out the hypocrisy and biases when glorifying a celebrity fighter such as Alex Pereira.

As UFC 291 draws near, MMA fans are excited to see Pereira’s debut performance in his new division. With only five fights in the promotion, Pereira has already secured the #1 position in the Middleweight division. However, he is going up against veteran fighter Jan Blachowicz, who has a professional record of 29-9-1. Jan ranks #3 in the UFC’s Light-Heavyweight rankings. The fight will commence later this July at the Delta Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
