UFC’s featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski is out on a quest to be on the top of the pound-for-pound list. Volkanovski’s last title defense came against the former champion, Max Holloway. It was the third meeting between these two, and Alex annihilated Max to establish himself as the best featherweight champ to ever step inside the octagon.

Volkanovski completely swiped out his entire division, and he is now looking to move up to the lightweight division, and fulfill his dream of becoming the double champ. As of now, no one holds the undisputed lightweight champion, but Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev are fighting for it at the main event of UFC 280.

Charles lost his fight because of a weight mishap at UFC 274, but despite all these things he went on to defeat Justin Gaethje. Islam Makhachev is on a 10-fight win streak and many backs him to rule the division for a long time to come.

Volkanovski is very much interested in this fight, and he’s definitely playing favorites. Talking to The MMA Hour, Alex said, “At the end of the day, I just want the belt. What do you think the bigger fight is? I think the bigger fight is definitely Charles Oliveira.”

Alex added, “I think he’s got so much hype on him. We know it’s going to be an exciting fight, he’s so exciting to watch. There’s a reason he’s so exciting to watch. This isn’t a shot at him, I’ve got a lot of respect for him, but I think a lot of people miss the fact that he takes damage.”

Charles displayed incredible resilience in his last few bouts but Alex believes his style is going to be too much to handle for him, “He loses a good portion of these big, exciting fights. That’s why they’re exciting. A lot of people are hyping him up, and again, I want big fights. I think Charles is definitely a bigger fight.”
