After knocking off former champions and top contenders, Kai Kara-France is all set to fight for the Interim Flyweight Gold. In the co-main event of UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas #1 Brandon Moreno and #2 Kai Kara-France will battle it out for the interim gold. Both of these men fought each other once at UFC 245 in December of 2019. The Assassin Baby picked up the win by decision and went on to become the champion.

After their first meeting, The Kiwi bounced back to the win column and only lost once since 2019. The Kiwi build up a 3-fight win streak knocking out former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. He then went on to defeat Flyweight undefeated top prospect Askar Askarov to claim the #2 spot in the Flyweight rankings.

After defeating the New Zealand native, The Assassin Baby went on to defeat two more fighters after facing the then champion, Figueiredo. The Assassin Baby fought the champion Figueiredo back-to-back three times.

The first fight was a majority draw. However, in the second fight, The Assassin Baby defeated the champion by submission to become the first Mexican-born UFC champion. Although, Figueiredo claimed the title back at UFC 270.

Following UFC 270, UFC was trying to book The Assassin Baby and Figueiredo for the fourth time to settle the score. However, due to injury, the champion was unable to compete. Which then prompted an Interim matchup between the #2 ranked Kiwi and the former champion.

The Assassin Baby is a -205 favorite going into this fight. On the other hand, The Kiwi is a +175 underdog coming into this fight. Both these men will face off for the gold in the co-main event of UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas.

In an interview given to TMZ Sports, the Kiwi talked about his upcoming fight, his last loss against the former champion. He also talked about the impact of training with two current champions in Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. His reaction to the champion’s recent comments on the fight.

When asked about any advice received from the champions Adesanya and Volkanovski, who are The Kiwi’s teammates. The Kiwi stated, ” There’s not much words that needs to be exchanged. It’s just more a feeling, a presence that you have in yourself and the self-belief and that’s what I see”

He further praised his teammates by stating, ” like I’m just an observer and that’s what I see and take away most from Izzy and Alex is how they talk to themselves, how they look at themselves. It’s just to the highest standards and I feel like that’s what I’ve embodied the last few years.”
