“Happy For My Kids” Alexandre Pantoja has brutal words to his former foes Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara France
Pantoja has victories over both Moreno and Kara France
Alexandre Pantoja will be watching as Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara France will be facing off for interim gold this weekend. Pantoja himself is featured on the undercard when he faces off against Alex Perez, the #6 ranked flyweight.
However, unlike most flyweights in the top 5, Pantoja has bragging rights in that he’s already beaten the two guys challenging for interim gold in the past. All three were part of the TUF 24, headlined by coaches Henry Cejudo and Joe Benavidez.
It was here in his first two fights under the TUF banner that Pantoja gained his victories over Moreno and France. His first fight ever in TUF house was against Moreno who he beat via a RNC in the second round of their fight. After this he would be matched up against Team Benavidez teammate, Kai Kara who he also went on to beat via unanimous decision in the quarter-finals.
Years have passed and Moreno is a former Champion and gets to have his shot at redemption by having a chance to gain the interim title in a rematch against Kai. All this while Pantoja is yet to receive his first UFC title shot.
Alexandre Pantoja dismisses Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara France as he has victories over them
The fact that Pantoja had victories over both fighters in the main event was bought up by a media member during the press conference and Pantoja had one of the most stoic yet savage replies in flyweight trash talk history.
Pantoja was asked if he believed that having victories over the interim title contenders made him eligible to fight for the title itself. To this Pantoja said, “Yes, But I am a good father, so I am happy for my kids” a line that brought out a visible reaction from Julianna Pena seated right under him.
Later on Kai was asked to respond to these comments by the Brazilian. Kai highlighted the fact that the first time they faced, Kai was a young reckless man fighting for the sake of it but after starting a family his priorities have changed. He said, “Like I said before, I earned this, I didn’t just sit back and wait, i went out there and showed everyone why I am the next contender and that’s why I’m fighting for this belt, so he can just sit back and be on my prelims. “
To be completely fair, Pantoja was in fact given an opportunity to fight for the title but had to turn it down due to a lingering injury that needed to be taken care of. How do you think the future of flyweight plays out among these 3?
