“You are not on this set,” Ali Abdelaziz slams Michael Chandler’s offer to fight Islam Makhachev for UFC gold
Ali Abdelaziz- Michael Chandler
Looks like athlete manager Ali Abdelaziz has immersed himself in the competition originally meant for the fighters, the call for the title shots. Abdelaziz, the founder of Dominance MMA management agency, has managed UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. Currently, Abdelaziz manages fighting deals for the likes of Justin Gaethje, Kamaru Usman, Islam Makhachev, Beneil Dariush, Marvin Vettori and many more.
Currently, Makhachev, who’s Khabib’s mentee as well, and Dariush are in the hotspot of getting a title shot for the UFC lightweight gold which is vacant as of now because the former champion Charles Oliveira was found missing weight by 0.5 lbs during weigh-ins before his fight with Justin Gaethje at UFC 274. Makhachev is on a 10-fight winning streak and Dariush is on a 7-fight winning streak. The two were originally scheduled to fight back in February 2022 but Dariush had to pull out because of an injury then.
Ali Abdelaziz strictly vouches for Islam Makhachev to fight Beneil Dariush only for the vacant lightweight title
Now, Abdelaziz has recently called for a fight between both of his aforementioned fighters to fight each other for the title if Oliveira is not ready to fight Makhachev by October 2022. However, UFC lightweight Michael Chandler said via his Instagram story that he is willing to step up against Makhachev as soon as wanted while Dariush awaits the right time to get back to fighting after recovering successfully from his injury.
Abdelaziz responded to Chandler’s offer with a tweet quoting the news that covered Chandler’s story and said “You not on this Championship run player Set”
What do you make of this backfire from Abdelaziz in Chandler getting his way for a second title shot? Who do you think would win if Chandler and Makhachev are booked for the title? Do you think Abdelaziz is right in sidelining Chandler? Do you think Oliveira will reclaim his title back again if he stays out of the next title fight?
