Ahead of UFC 278, Ali Abdelaziz stopped by for an interview with Brett Okamoto from ESPN MMA for an interview. When asked about what Kamaru’s plans are for the future, the manager said they only plan on making huge money fights from here on. “Kamaru, he has to win first. So many big fights and they are going to talk. They have a good relationship,” Ali said about Usman and Dana White’s understanding.

Dana has already admitted that he won’t be in the way of Usman’s ambition to move up two weight classes and fight for the title. So, Ali is confident that it can happen. “Who has ever in history skipped a weight division and gone and won it? It’s about making money. It’s about big fights. You think this will be a big fight? Listen, Kamaru said, ‘I will defend it,'” added Ali. Abdelaziz then took a dig at another welterweight great Georges St Pierre, who moved up a weight division and won the middleweight belt but then never really fought again.

“So it’s not like he’s going to win and run as Georges St-Pierre did. But he will defend it. If anybody deserves to move to a different weight division, it’s Kamaru,” said Abdelaziz. Do you think Kamaru should be considered as the GOAT if he gets the job done this weekend and then at light heavyweight?
