Henry Cejudo is surely making a return to the octagon and Aljamain Sterling seems to be the one locked on his scope. The two have gone back and forth virtually every day since Sterling managed to retain his undisputed title against Petr Yan. Now the two have show that they can keep the same energy in real life as they squared off face to face.
Ever since Sterling managed to upset Petr Yan and retain his Bantamweight title, the fate of the division has been shaky at best. Not due to Sterling being an illegitimate champion or anything of those sorts but the lack of clarity of who challenges for the title next. This is only compounded by the fact that one of the fastest rising contenders in the division, Merab Dvalishvili is a teammate of Sterling for whom he has said he would vacate the belt.
While Sterling has been scheduled to face TJ Dillashaw, he is very much against the match making as he considers TJ to be a “Dirty Cheat. ” To get out of this mess, Sterling has lend out an olive branch to Cejudo allowing him to jump the line and fill in for TJ. While Cejudo has infact re-entered the USADA testing pool, the UFC or Dana White are yet to put out any statement showing their interest in rebooking Cejudo.
Henry Cejudo warns Aljamain Sterling about his fate during a mock-face off
Today the two met again in real life after their previous encounter during DC’s Check-in at what seems to be the outside of the UFC Fan Expo, an event at the International Fight Week celebrations. Here the two can be seen trading words and having a mock face off to build up the hype for the real deal.
As they close in Cejuod says, “You know you’re next, you’re gonna get it” at which Sterling warns the former two-division champ saying, “You really don’t want the smoke though” Triple C then asks Aljo to bet against him, even on one knee, causing the champion to repeat his saying, “I’m trying to tell you, you don’t want the smoke”
Sterling to shift things into next gear saying, “Get your a*s in shape, talk to uncle Dana and let Daddy tell you when to play” during which Cejudo argued that he could beat Sterling saying, “I’ll whoop your a* out of shape”
He then went on to say, “When you get through TJ Pillowshaw, Triple C is waiting for you next. ” Sterling would then taunt Cejudo saying, “All I hear is noise, I like action” prompting the two to get in each other’s faces at which point UFC security separated them .
