Aljamain Sterling is one of those fighters in the current MMA scenario who gets the win but also the haters. But not taking care of his haters, Sterling has always been vocal about his things. Fans booing inside the arena or making memes don’t bother him mentally or physically. And once again, ‘Funk Master’ made a big statement about Sean O’Malley and fans’ beloved star Conor McGregor.

At UFC 292, Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley will get locked in the cage, only waiting for the referee’s call. In August, the bantamweight championship belt will be on the line. On the same night, if Aljo secures the victory, he will become one of the quickest-turnaround defending champions. But keeping this hype aside, Sterling also wants to talk about how serious he considers his opponent.

When Aljo was calculating Sean O’Malley’s knockouts, he also included Conor McGregor in the conversation. FunkMaster on his YouTube channel said, “We haven’t quite seen these magic knockouts. This wannabe knockoff, Conor McGregor, was on a trajectory. But for some reason, people don’t have the formula or the juice to be Conor.”

There has already been a lot of hype between the champion and his challenger. This hype all started when Sean O’Malley made his way to the cage after the UFC 288 main event. Both fighters exchanged a lot of heated words, which almost turned into a physical brawl. Dana White, being aware of it, kept security around and inside the cage.

Sterling said in the QA session, “I do think that the UFC does want O’Malley as the champion.” There has been a lot of hate for Sterling since he got the illegal knee blow to win against Petr Yan at UFC 259 After that, he had two close split decision wins, where in his first matchup against Yan he was losing the round according to analysts, where he got lucky with a knee blow.

Later Sean O’Malley’s coach Tim Welch also explained why UFC want Sean O’Malley should be their champion. “The UFC knows what they’re doing. ‘Sugar’ is a big superstar and the UFC helped with that so I’m sure the UFC would love to see a KO artist that’s as flashy as Sean be the champion.”

Earlier, Ray Longo, Sterling’s coach, had a go at Dana White for not considering every champion the same. Ray indirectly accused White of favoritism when he said in 3 months, forcing Aljo to register the quickest turnaround.
