“Gonna say 2nd round,” Aljamain Sterling gives his BOLD early prediction for a fight versus Henry Cejudo

Cejudo and Sterling resume their rivalry in real life

A while ago, on his podcast, Aljamain Sterling announced Henry Cejudo as his next UFC fight. However, the two had been going back and forth much before that, and now things have intensified beyond measure.

“Funkmaster” now has made the claim that he could “realistically” knock out Henry in the first round. Talking about it on his YouTube channel, he said, “Honestly, I know I said I’d finish him in one. Which I realistically can see that happening… If I’m giving a prediction, I’m gonna say second round. And I’m gonna challenge myself. I think second round, TKO. I think he’s gonna run into something.”

Aljamain also explained his prediction, and why he believed he would get the better of one of only four double champs in UFC history. He said Cejudo may be naive during their fight and may rush into some positions, leaving himself open.

However, beating Henry Cejudo is easier said than done. The man has beaten legends like Demetrious Johnson and Dominick Cruz and is not someone that Funkmaster should be taken lightly.

Aljamain Sterling had earlier dismissed Henry Cejudo as an opponent after his win at UFC 280. Triple C had been calling out Sterling for quite some time leading up to UFC 280. But, shortly after that PPV, Funkmaster announced that he would be taking some time off after 2 successful title defenses.

The bantamweight champion had told MMA Junkie that he would not be returning any time soon. He said, “I’m not fighting till mid-next year. That’s my honest opinion. I earned my time off, so Henry [Cejudo] can go kick rocks.”

He then went on to question Triple C’s ability to sell a fight. Sterling said this in light of Henry Cejudo’s unexpected retirement which is coming up in its third year in May of 2023.

However, now it seems as if Aljamain Sterling has done a complete 180 on his words. Also, with the announcement of his return fight against Cejudo, it would seem Sean O’Malley is being cast aside for the time being. This comes as a surprise especially after both Dana White and Aljamain himself said that they wanted O’Malley to be the next challenger for the UFC bantamweight title.
