Aljamain Sterling responds to Dana White's rant
Aljamain Sterling was recently left confused after Dana White ranted at UFC Vegas 73. He later responded on his ‘The Weekly Scraps’ podcast.
Only a few weeks ago, Sterling defeated Henry Cejudo at UFC 288. He became the first UFC Bantamweight champion with three consecutive title defenses. Right after the win, UFC Bantamweight #2 Sean O’Malley challenged Aljamain Sterling for the title fight in the octagon. There was a verbal agreement between the fighters. Dana White made it official after he declared the fight will take place at UFC 292.
UFC 292 is still far away, and many believe that UFC President Dana White declared the fight prematurely. Sterling declared that he wasn’t sure if he could fight O’Malley at UFC 292. His opponent O’Malley declared that he would be there in the octagon regardless of whether or not Sterling is present. Dana went on a rant on this and said, “Sterling is one of those guys who can’t get out of his own way,” and declared that the fight is “absolutely, positively on.”
Aljamain Sterling addressed the issue. He revealed that he fought Henry Cejudo with a torn bicep “…you’ve got Henry Cejudo, ‘the greatest combat athlete of all-time,’ I beat this guy, also with a partially torn bicep tendon,” he said. ” …I showed out every single time and won. At what point do I get credit from the UFC, from Uncle Dana?”
To prove that he was not backing out of a fight, he challenged O’Malley to a fight ahead of what UFC 292 was scheduled. “F*ck it. Let’s run it July 8th and see if you really built like that,” he said. Reacting to the criticisms on Twitter for this announcement, Aljamain Sterling uploaded a video of him training where he said, “All haters can s*ck my d*ck.”
