Sean O’Malley has been a fan favorite in the bantamweight division. The Suga Show has given the fans nothing short of amazing performances inside the octagon making him a huge PPV star in a short period of time in the UFC. However, it is only now that Sean will be testing his skills against the top of the division.

Despite a lot of back-and-forth with Sean, bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling believes the youngster has a lot of talent. In a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Sterling spoke about Sean’s skills as a fighter and believes he could be a top contender in the near future. “That guy is f**king good,” said Sterling about O’Malley on the podcast.

“Good movements, slick on the feet. I think his feints are what does him well. Especially having the length and range in this weight class,” said Sterling on the strengths of O’Malley as a bantamweight talking to Joe Rogan.

“I do think he might be a little weak though. Like if I feel if I grab that guy and put a bodylock on that guy I would probably break his ribs and get a submission via standing bodylock,” Sterling joked about Sean O’Malley being a little too weak for him. Sterling is a huge 135-pounder and has always been very strong with his wrestling in the octagon.

Sterling believes Sean could be very similar to Cory Sandhagen from the same division. Sean is only now being ranked as a top 15 fighter in the division despite his 7 wins in the UFC octagon. Sean is currently 15-1-0 in his professional career with a record of 7-1 in the UFC. His only loss in the octagon comes against Marlon Vera who beat him via TKO. It is worth mentioning that O’Malley broke his foot against Vera which led to him being in a compromising position.

O’Malley is now booked to fight a top contender in Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276. The fight is set to take place on 3rd July. Though Sean is a huge star, it would take him more wins to match up against someone like Aljamain in the near future.
