While the internet is all exploded in tributes following Jose Aldo‘s news of retirement, Aldo has made his priorities clear in a recent Instagram post, which has nothing to do with him being a fighter but has everything to do with him as a father. Just hours ago, Aldo broke the news of the birth of his second child, a baby boy going by the name of Jose Aldo III. This is an intensely emotional moment for “Junior” as he is seen crying heavily in a collection of photos clicked by the photographer of the hospital where the child was delivered from Aldo’s wife.

In the caption, Aldo wrote in Portuguese “18.09.2022 ? 46cm 3.1150 Day of celebration, our long-awaited José Aldo Third has arrived. It feels like the first time, and we’re here with open arms to give you all the love in the world. So beautiful and so small, capable of awakening the greatest feeling: LOVE. And here we are diving in a sea of immeasurable Love! How wonderful God is !!! Welcome my son! We love you!”

As confirmed by multiple sources, Aldo has been removed from the UFC, marking the end of the competitive journey in the sport of MMA. The news was first initiated as a rumour when Aldo’s last opponent, Merab Dvalishvili, revealed his conversations with the former after their fight at UFC 278. Aldo has been competing in professional MMA since 2004 and broke into the major scenes by his dominance in WEC. He, later on, made history during the UFC’s acquisition of WEC by becoming the last WEC featherweight champion and the first UFC featherweight champion.

Aldo’s list of wins includes a UFC Hall of Famers, Urijah Faber and Cub Swanson, American Top Team’s wrestling coach Mike Brown and a future Hall of Famer in Frankie Edgar. In response to Aldo’s retirement on Twitter, Olympic gold medalist and former 2-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo posted the poster of the once scheduled fight between Aldo and him that got cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

In the caption, Cejudo wrote I always wonder what could’ve been. I spent a whole camp training to fight Jose Aldo in Brazil, but COVID changed everything. I was looking forward to the challenge & crazy atmosphere. Happy retirement to one of the greatest featherweights in MMA history @josealdojunio
