One of the strangest interactions in UFC history occurred at UFC Vegas 89. Igor Severino made a huge mistake when he bit Andre Lima, his opponent. This resulted in his immediate expulsion from the UFC. Lima recently expressed sadness over the release of his opponent.
Lima felt sympathetic toward Severino’s situation despite emerging victorious. He acknowledged the shared struggles they faced to reach the UFC. The Brazilian fighter felt that he and Severino were not so different and had the same goal in mind. This is what he said:
I feel so sorry, to be honest for him. I'm sad for him because, to be honest he came from the same thing, the struggle a lot like I did. Like he has a family, a bright future.Andre Lima via TMZ Sports

This made it really sad when Severino got kicked out of UFC. Still, Lima showed he cared about his fellow fighters. Who did wonder that the actions of Severino had huge consequences and impacted his personal life as well? Even if UFC CEO Dana White had known about Severino’s situation, he would still have kicked the fighter off the roster. Such conduct should never happen.
Getting bit had a good side for Lima as well, not just his first UFC win. He stayed unbeaten as a pro-MMA fighter. Plus, Dana White gave Lima a fat bonus. They called it the “I got freakin’ bit” bonus. At first, White said $25,000 but then upped it to $50,000 after Lima tattooed that part.
Andre Lima thought the fence was hurting him during the Igor Severino fight
Andre Lima’s UFC debut was really strange. He was utterly bewildered when a sharp pain struck his arm. This occurred during his bout versus Igor Severino at UFC Vegas 89. Initially, Lima believed the fence had somehow injured him. He later clarified this through an interpreter.

As Lima grappled Severino, an intense, stabbing pain suddenly arose. They were scrapping back and forth. Lima felt the pain as Severino attempted a takedown. Turns out, he even yelled out when he felt it. His mind raced to comprehend the unexpected situation, for the notion of a bite seemed unfathomable.
It wasn’t until after the confusion settled that Lima realized the unthinkable had occurred. Severino had bitten him during the exchange. One would say Severino had channeled his inner Mike Tyson and bit Lima’s arm. Lima was still confused as to why Severino would do that. He believed that the fight was getting exciting and had the potential to become Fight of the Night.
