Zabit Magomedsharipov might be the biggest what-if story in the UFC within the past decade. The Dagestani who had the featherweight division in awe, thanks to his highly athletic abilities and genuine creativity inside the octagon, surprised the world when he decided to quit Martial Arts and change careers to being a doctor.
Since the announcement, Dr. Zabit Magomedsharipov has been a mythical fighter and a meme beloved by fans of the sport. For those unaware Zabit has been on a long hiatus following his bout against Calvin Kattar in 2019 stemming from medical issues relating to his diaphragm that severely affect his endurance in the octagon. In that time frame where he went through medical treatment, the star has also stated that he had lost his love for fighting and could do without it.
Recently, he shared a video on Instagram with the caption, “And they say that with age the speed decreases” In the video, the Dagestani can be seen working the heavy bag with a newfound zeal, throwing heavy hands with the signature speed and ingenuity he’s become well known for and it had fans feeling severely nostalgic again

Others refused to fall for the bait and get excited for his return to the octagon only chosing to believe it when the cage door finally closed behind Zabit.
The fact that the “Shaolin Monk” left the sport at the age of 29 doesn’t sit well in the hearts of fight fans and some relied on romance to seduce the fighter to a comeback
Many others were simply saddened to have received a glimpse of what could have been if everything was perfect, expressing their emotions accordingly
