The UFC is the fastest-growing sports promotion organization globally and looks poised to grow even further. However, one thing stands in the way of their smooth sailing. It is the $1.6 billion class action lawsuit that they face. The Lawsuit, filed by former UFC fighters, garnered support from various sections of the MMA community. Nonetheless, Dana White has stated that he was not concerned by it. The case will go to trial in mid-April, potentially after the coveted UFC 300 PVV.
First reported by BloodyElbow, ESPN’s Marc Raimondi recently revealed that witnesses who will testify for Zuffa, the then-parent company of the promotion. Current UFC lightweight Michael Chandler and former UFC fighters Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen, among others, will testify on behalf of the UFC. Fight fans have not taken it lightly as they heard of the people testifying for the UFC. Nonetheless, Zuffa’s attorneys did not seem to fear the lawsuit, as this is the statement they gave in the trial brief.

In addition to the names mentioned above, Miesha Tate and Donald Cerrone will also testify for the promotion. Fighters are not the only ones who will testify. Michael Chandler is a surprising name since he only came to the UFC in 2020. Noted MMA managers like Ali Abdelaziz, Jason House, Josh Jones, Dan Lambert, and Ed Soares will also do the same. Fight fans did not side with the UFC as they didn’t like the revenue share disparity.
The fighters in the UFC as a whole had only 15-20% of the profit made by the promotion. It is an alarming number for fight fans as other major sports promotions have an almost equal revenue-sharing financial program in place. Lawyers have already predicted a tough time for the UFC. One of the main reasons for worry is the staggering number of plaintiffs against the promotion.

The lawsuit filed against Dana White’s promotion by former UFC fighters Cung Le, Nathan Quarry, Jon Fitch, Brandon Vera, Luis Javier Vazquez, and Kyle Kingsbury got class-action status in the recent past. Their problem was with the unfair practices that the promotion employed to underpay fighters and control their freedom of choice.

Renowned names in the UFC will testify for the promotion in court. Michael Chandler, Michael Bisping, and Chael Sonnen are among those. The reveal of the witnesses troubled fight fans as they trolled the fighters mentioned above. See how fight fans reacted to it below.
The judge presiding over the case, Richard Franklin Boulware II, made a lot of documents public concerning the lawsuit. From these documents, the public found out that the fight purses of big stars were comparatively less than expected. Brock Lesnar made more money on average than Conor McGregor. Nonetheless, McGregor’s ‘red panty night’ was real as fighters, especially champions, made comparatively big fight purses when they fought under the card of a McGregor PPV.
