The prevailing situation between Hamas and Israel has agitated Javier Milei, the President of Argentina. Milei had strongly supported Israel in the war with Palestine, vowing to their solidarity. Recently, he voiced out to demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem to rebuild a Jewish temple. This call from the Argentinian president received huge criticism from all over the world. Now, UFC fighter Umar Nurmagomedov commented in support of Islam.
Umar Nurmagomedov, much like his fellow Muslim brothers like Khabib Nurmagomedov respects his religion to the core. As such, Javier Milei’s call to demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque triggered him to voice out for the Muslims. He simply trashed the Argentinian President calling his notice “Stupid.”
The Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem was the third holiest place in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and the Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina. So, Javier Milei’s call for the demolition of it called for strong opposition. As such, Umar Nurmagomedov didn’t even bother to call out the Argentinian President for his ‘stupid’ opinions.
Earlier, many UFC fighters have voiced their support for Palestine. Especially Muslim fighters like Belal Muhammad, Islam Makhachev, and many more. Even recently, UFC featherweight, Movsar Evloev used the Super Bowl to shed light on the situation in Gaza. As such, Umar Nurmagomedov too stood with Palestine and voiced his support.
Umar Nurmagomedov gets a fight booked after ranked contenders avoided him
Umar Nurmagomedov was one of the surging prospects in the bantamweight division. He remained undefeated in his fighting career and dominated all of his opponents in the UFC. As such, despite being available to fight, no ranked opponents accepted a fight with him. Even Nurmagomedov tried calling out contenders on X. But, nothing came to fruition. As such, now he is forced to fight a UFC debutant next.
According to MMA Junkie and other reports, Umar Nurmagomedov is to fight Bekzat Almakhan in UFC Vegas 87. Almakhan, who recently fought at the fight promotion ‘Octagon’ has a record of 17-1. He would now take on Nurmagomedov on his UFC debut. This fight is to go down in March for UFC Vegas 87.
Umar Nurmagomedov previously fought Raoni Barcelos in January 2023. As such, he would make a return to the octagon after a year. But, this wasn’t supposed to be the case.
