Arnold Allen lost his fight against Movsar Evloev at UFC 297. Recently, he talked about the fight on YouTube and what he thought about referee Marc Goddard. Here is what happened:

Arnold’s fight at UFC 297 had a controversial outcome and he was not happy with it. However, he spoke his mind on Marc Goddard and why he still holds him in high regard. Talking about it on YouTube, Arnold Allen said:

I asked the rules backstage, and there was nothing to clarify. Mark Goddard is getting a lot of flack for his call, but when he came in and said he was reffing, me, my coach and my manager were very happy, and I still think he’s one of the best refs out there. I believe he made a mistake, and you know, it’s a tough one.

After UFC 297, Allen expressed frustration over his unanimous decision loss. He believes he should have won and that the judges got it wrong. Allen has a professional MMA record of 19 wins and 3 losses.

He lost to the undefeated Evloev who boasts a professional record of 18 wins and 0 losses. All three judges awarded the first and second rounds to Evloev.

What happened during Arnold Allen and Movsar Evloev’s fight at UFC 297?

Both fighters displayed their skills in the showdown. Evloev attempted takedowns while Allen landed some significant strikes, displaying his striking prowess.

Allen started the round with shots to the body and head. Meanwhile, Evloev landed a hook that made Allen stumble and bleed. He even landed a combination that caused Allen’s left eye to swell. In the third round, Allen came out strong. He outlanded Evloev by eight significant strikes but also gave up five takedowns and more than three minutes of control time.

Allen also kicked Evloev in the head, when he was technically a downed fighter. As such, the fighters were separated by referee, Marc Goddard, who called a timeout. Luckily for Allen, no points were deducted even though the strikes were deemed illegal.

All three judges awarded rounds one and two to Evloev and he won the fight by unanimous decision. Both fighters are top contenders of the sport. However, while Evloev has maintained his undefeated streak, UFC 297 marked Allen’s second consecutive loss. Thus, tarnishing his previously undefeated streak in the UFC.
