The presence of Aljamain Sterling in the bantamweight division is important for the weight class. The Funkmaster brings a sense of competition like no other fighter. No one in the weight class could imagine taking on three former champions in a streak. Sterling fought them, and he emerged victorious.
Sterling’s grappling remains a thing of beauty. When a technician like him is present, the division is bound to be in turmoil. If Sterling does not get a rematch, then he can fight some of the other contenders in the division. Rising contenders in the division could test themselves against the decorated fighter.
Recently Sterling has been vocal about his move up to featherweight. However, Sterling should remain at bantamweight and fight his way back to the title. He should go for a rematch against O’Malley in a future bout.
