UFC CEO, Dana White, is strict about certain policies in the UFC. One of those is who gets to walk out with fighters to the octagon. Dana White commented on this in one of his podcast appearances. Here is what happened:
The clip is from one of Dana White‘s appearances on the Full Send Podcast. One of the hosts asked Dana about rappers walking out with boxers at their fights and how that is something the UFC CEO has never allowed. Dana White said:
No, they walk out with their team. They walk out with the guys who train them and help them get there and we don't turn it into a f****** circus... Who the f*** are these people and why are they in there? They are nobodies looking to get on f****** TV. Even the promoters are going in there. For what? The f*** do you need to be in there for?Dana White via Full Send Podcast
Dana White has prohibited UFC fighters from walking out with rappers. UFC fighters are encouraged to walk out with their corner team to represent the collective effort they put into training and preparation for the fight. White emphasized maintaining a professional atmosphere unlike boxing, where boxers often walk out with rappers.
Dana White had even not allowed Colby Covington to walk out with former US President Donald Trump. Although that was more likely for security reasons. However, this was all before the recent UFC 298 fight. Mark Zuckerberg was seen walking out with Alexander Volkanovski for his fight against Ilia Topuria at UFC 298.
Dana White finally revealed the main event for UFC 300
UFC CEO, Dana White, was very praiseful of Leon Edwards earlier this week at the UFC 298 press conference. White praised Leon Edwards for accepting three different opponents for UFC 300.
The potential opponents offered to Leon Edwards for UFC 300 were Khamzat Chimaev, Shavkat Rakhmonov, and Islam Makhachev. And Leon Edwards said yes to fighting all of them. However, it was later revealed that another title bout would headline the much anticipated UFC 300 main event. And that fight is none other than Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill for the UFC light-heavyweight title.
Alex Pereira will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. Hill is a former champion who has returned to challenge Pereira, who recently secured his second UFC title with a TKO victory over Jiri Prochazka.
