The former UFC contender, Ben Askren, is curious about Alex Pereira’s authenticity. In one of his recent social media posts, Askren asked about the former UFC Middleweight Champion. 

Askren appeared genuinely intrigued by Pereira’s demeanor. In his latest X (formerly Twitter) post, he openly pondered, “Is this a gimmick, or does he really never smile? Kinda hilarious.” The post featured a picture of Pereira at a UFC event. And unsurprisingly, the former Middleweight Champion wore an unyielding serious look.

This isn’t an isolated incident regarding Pereira’s enigmatic personality. It’s a demeanor that has triggered a deluge of memes and curiosity. Nearly every press conference involving Pereira includes inquiries about his elusive smile. Even during a recent family vacation in Germany, Pereira managed to maintain his stoic expression amidst the exuberance of those around him.

It is common among MMA fighters generally to maintain an expression of stoic poise. However, none have piqued the interest of MMA fans like Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira. The Brazilian fighter is known for his incredible performance inside the octagon or the kickboxing ring.

Alex Pereira’s rapid rise in the UFC and move to Light Heavyweight division

Periera recently debuted in the Light Heavyweight division. After a grueling performance, Poatan bagged the win via decision at UFC 291. This marked his first victory in the division. While many considered that the judges robbed his opponent Jan Blachowicz, Pereira marched forward. Considering his record, the Brazilian fighter may soon feature in the UFC Light Heavyweight title fight. 

Pereira is renowned for his devastating knockout power. He has earned multiple accolades in his kickboxing career. Before transitioning to the UFC, Alex Pereira was the first two-division champion for Glory. His ascent has been nothing short of remarkable, leaving fans and fighters alike captivated by his seemingly unbreakable demeanor.
