“Feeling c**p all the time,” Beneil Dariush comments about Conor McGregor’s mindset on winning only one fight since 2016
Beneil Dariush- Conor McGregor
UFC Lightweight Beneil Dariush seems to feel for UFC megastar Conor McGregor, at least this is what it seems if he is not taunting back McGregor for mocking Dariush on one of his tweets. Dariush last fought at UFC 262 back in May 2021 when he dominated former interim-UFC lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson. Dariush is currently in his prime time riding on a 7-fight winning streak but seems like his fight with Islam Makhachev to decide on the number one contender is far from the reality since Makhachev has been gathering a lot of support lately that favours him getting a title shot directly.
Makhachev and Dariush were supposed to fight in February until Dariush had to pull out due to a grave injury. Since then, Dariush has been in recovery mode and looking forward to who he will fight next if not Makhachev. McGregor, the other half of this news, is also in recovery mode or at least completed his recovery from a gruesome shin fracture caused last year in his last fight, a trilogy against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor is looking forward to fighting again, most likely in 2023 as per rumours. But McGregor really needs a victory in order to prove his championship-level calibre all over again.
Beneil Dariush says he feels sorry for Conor McGregor
Not so long ago, McGregor posted a tweet about Dariush and it wasn’t optimistic to write to any fighter at all, especially when you don’t have any seeded rivalry with the aggrieved person. McGregor said on Twitter “Beneil Dardush is the biggest nobody in the company.“
Recently at UFC Unfiltered podcast, Dariush came out as a guest to talk about various things revolving around his future in fighting and his way for a title shot. Dariush was then also talked about the tweet and his response to McGregor is rather empathetic towards the Irish fighter’s run as a fighter lately.
“To be honest with you, I feel for the guy. Because, man, he’s been fighting the last couple of years and it hasn’t been going so well. If I was in his position it would be horrible,“ says Dariush. “If I was to put myself in his shoes, he’s gotta be feeling like c**p all the time because he doesn’t know what’s going on.” [h/t DailyMail]
What do you make of Dariush’s response to McGregor? Do you think this was a genuine concern for McGregor on behalf of Dariush or was it a notorious way of pitying upon “The Notorious” himself? Who do you think Dariush should fight on his return and who do you think would win if McGregor and Dariush were to ever fight? As of now, either one of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier or Michael Chandler could secure a title shot provided they fight Dariush and win against the Kings’ MMA trainee.
