Chris Curtis faced a good amount of backlash for walking out to P Diddy‘s song at UFC Vegas 90. This was amid some serious controversial allegations levied against the rapper. However, Chris Curtis had his reasons, which he explained on social media. Here is what happened:
Chris Curtis recently took to X to give an explanation for his controversial walkout. Curtis explained how he ended up with the controversial walkout song. The ‘Action Man’ revealed that the UFC execs did not approve his initial walkout song. As such, he was forced to change and chose Diddy’s music.
I'm getting some weird looks so I'll explain the walkout for you guys before I go to bed. Last night at dinner I got a call saying my walkout song ( The Rumbling by Stim) wasn't approved by the execs. I was low key kinda pissed, so I went with Diddy thinking.Chris Curtis via X
Chris Curtis and Brendan Allen headlined the main event at UFC Vegas 90. Their fight went the distance, but Allen ultimately came on top as the winner. However, Curtis’s walkout song surprised the MMA community as they were confused by the context of the situation. Curtis walked up to the octagon at the UFC APEX while playing Sean “Diddy” Combs’ song Bad Boy For Life in the background.
Sean “P Diddy” Combs is facing federal investigations into allegations of se*ual trafficking. Several women have sued him for alleged assault, abuse, or trafficking. The authorities have raided the rapper’s residences in Miami and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Diddy has been sued multiple times during this timeline. Therefore, choosing to put on his song as your walk-out music was definitely not the best decision.
Sean Strickland says Brendan Allen’s win against Chris Curtis was embarrassing
Sean Strickland had something interesting to say about the main event of the UFC Vegas 90. Brendan Allen avenged his former loss against Chris Curtis with a split-decision win. However, Curtis took this fight on short notice and still took the fight to split the decision while outstriking Allen.
Sean Strickland highlighted this in a series of tweets defending his friend’s loss. He wrote that it was embarrassing that Curtis could outperform Allen despite taking the fight on such short notice. The former champion had reportedly advised Chris Curtis to turn down the fight. However, Curtis took the fight and outstruck Allen without a proper camp.
Brendan Allen had aimed for Sean Strickland next before fighting Curtis. After Allen’s performance, one would believe he might not fare well against Strickland. ‘Tarzan’ is a much better fighter than Curtis and has previously knocked out Allen. As such, only time will tell if a rematch between the duo ever happens.
