Dana White lauded Sean O’Malley for his remarkable display during the UFC 292 bout against Aljamain Sterling. The accomplishment extended beyond the octagon, as the event set a new record for the all-time gate revenue at Boston Garden, raking in 7 million in contrast to Bruce Springsteen’s 5 million.
When addressing inquiries regarding Sean O’Malley’s performance, the subject of ‘Dana White Privilege‘ was raised, prompting Dana White to respond firmly. He said, “There is no such thing!” White openly criticized the media for attributing the label of ‘Dana White privilege‘ to O’Malley. He elaborated on his perspective, asserting that the concept holds no truth. White also acknowledged O’Malley’s contributions, acknowledging him for transforming the fight into the most significant bantamweight title match in UFC history.
The UFC President spoke to the media and expressed his delight in revealing the post-fight bonuses. He emphasized his satisfaction in having both champions secure the performance bonuses. White highlighted the TUF Finale competitors who put on the Fight of the Night performances. Apart from his commendations for Sean O’Malley, Dana White also praised Zhang Weili for her remarkable performance. Notably, Weili received support from Boston Celtic’s coach Joe Mazulla. Mazulla took time out of his schedule to attend the event.
In his remarks, White also discussed the situation involving Merab Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling. He expressed relief after the outcome of the main event in Boston. When questioned about Sean O’Malley’s callout of Marlon Vera, Dana White’s attitude indicated a move to the rematch between Vera and Suga.
Zhang Weili’s next fight will be in China according to Dana White
Dana White praised Zhang Weili’s performance immensely at the post-fight press conference. However, White didn’t provide further details about who could be the next opponent for the Chinese champion. Weili initially secured the title in China by defeating Jessica Andrade. Yan Xiaonan remains next in line to face Zhang, followed by the undefeated Tatiana Suarez.
Weili herself stated to the media that she is open to facing either Suarez or Xiaonan in China for her upcoming title defense. After her close loss to Rose Namajunas in the rematch, Weili has demonstrated extreme dominance. This loss motivated her to concentrate on enhancing her offensive grappling and wrestling skills, resulting in significant improvements.
Suarez and Xiaonan recently achieved finishes over Jessica Andrade, the former women’s strawweight champion. Of the two, Suarez has the most chance to dethrone Weili due to her exceptional grappling expertise.
