Brandon Moreno wants Dana White to give him an immediate rematch with Alexandre Pantoja. The last time the pair met, Moreno put his flyweight championship on the line against Alexandre Pantoja in the co-main event at UFC 290. The two fighters engaged in a thrilling five-round battle, marking their third encounter and an unforgettable showdown.
Although Brandon Moreno inflicted more damage through striking, Pantoja showcased remarkable grappling prowess, having sufficient control time to secure a split-decision triumph. The fight was very close, and many fans thought Moreno won. However, it went in favor of Pantoja.
In an interview with the OverDog podcast, Moreno revealed that Dana White was responsible for the rematch. The Mexican mentioned watching the fight multiple times and preparing himself for a rematch anytime the UFC makes it. He said, “We need to talk with the boss right? Man I saw that fight like 10-15 times right now. But that’s the game. Hopefully they give me the rematch coming soon. If not, I mean, I’ll be ready.”
Following the fight at UFC 290, White was questioned about his divisional plans during the post-fight press conference. Given the excitement generated by the Moreno vs. Pantoja fight, he expressed an interest in arranging a rematch without delay. However, there have not been any developments on that matter.
Brandon Moreno doesn’t think Alexandre Pantoja is not in a position to challenge Sean O’Malley next
Alexandre Pantoja is still in contact with the UFC about his first title defense. Still, he recently also issued a challenge to Sean O’Malley, who won the UFC championship last month with a second-round knockout against Aljamain Sterling.
Although the Brazilian is eager for another shot at the title, Brandon Moreno doesn’t consider it a significant fight, to say the least. Brandon Moreno commented on the potential matchup between Alexandre Pantoja and Sean O’Malley, stating that UFC fans are uninterested in that fight.
According to Moreno, O’Malley has more compelling matchups in the future, possibly against Aljamain Sterling, Merab Dvalishvili, or Chito Vera. He expressed his readiness to see what the UFC decides for them. Moreno claimed that even after losing three times against Pantoja, he’s still motivated to get his revenge, and the UFC should make the rematch as soon as possible.
