Brendan Allen secured a close split decision victory against Chris Curtis at UFC Vegas 90. The Louisiana native targeted champion Dricus Du Plessis as the next opponent. Allen didn’t hold back and shared his claims about defeating the champion with ease.
Brendan Allen was extremely stoked after his win and did a post-fight interview with ESPN MMA. During the conversation, the fighter expressed his confidence in his ability and how he could win against Dricus Du Plessis. According to Allen, Du Plessis did not match up to him stylistically.
I’ve seen the guy train, I know guys that have trained with him. The guy can’t hold my jock strap at the end of the day. When I come, when I show up, stylistically that guy knows he can’t touch me. He can’t hang with me… I’d f**k him upBrendan Allen via ESPN MMA
After defeating Curtis, Allen is now on an impeccable seven-fight win streak. His last loss in the UFC coincidently came against Curtis in 2021, but the fighter finally avenged it. Allen is now clear about his intentions and has started his first step towards fighting for the middleweight belt.
However, Du Plessis is currently focused on fighting Israel Adesanya and teased about the potential title defense at UFC 305. Allen is the #6 ranked fighter in the division and does not have a win over the top 10 or top 5 ranked contenders. As such, Allen remains at least one or two more wins from competing for the title.

I don't know. The man doesn't like me. I haven't really spent a lot of time with Brendan. We haven't sparred or anything like that..I guess he sees something in me which he can beat or he doesn't like.Dricus Du Plessis via UFC 290 pre-fight media scrum
