“Foaming at the d**k” – Brendan Schaub doubts Alex Pereira’s ability to beat any other top-ranked middleweight contender
Alex Pereira
Two of the best strikers on the planet, Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira faced each other in the main event of UFC 281 for the middleweight belt. In their last two outings inside the kickboxing ring, Pereira came out victorious, and he was riding high on confidence coming into this fight.
As per expectations, Pereira managed to knock out Adesanya this time as well, and he turned the entire arena upside down. While many were in awe of his skills and thought it is the start of another amazing title reign, former UFC fighter, Brendan Schaub claims he’s an easy matchup for any other top-ranked middleweight.
Talking about it on his YouTube channel, he said, “I’m not taking anything away from Alex, but I don’t think he beats a single guy in the Top 5. Robert Whittaker, after he saw Izzy and Pereira’s grappling and the wrestling, I’m sure every guy in the Top 5 are like, ‘Dear God! Please give me that guy.’”
He continued, “For those guys that can actually wrestle and have not just one takedown but an arsenal, and have chain wrestling and they have jiu-jitsu higher than a blue belt, they’re foaming at the d**k to get their hands on Pereira.”
What does the future hold for Alex Pereira after UFC 281
Pereira quickly became one of the most popular fighters in the company, and is now ready to start his journey as a UFC champion. Given their history, and Adesanya’s resume, UFC would most probably push to book a rematch between these two, and it seems like both these gladiators are down for it.
Adesanya took his loss like a champ, and he accepted that Pereira was the better man that night, he feels like a weight is lifted off from his shoulders, and now he’ll enjoy the ‘hunt’ for his belt.
Another possible career path for Pereira is kind of a long shot, but his training partner/mentor, Glover Teixeira is booked to face Jiri Prochazka in a title rematch. If Jiri manages to beat Glover and retain his belt, Pereira can move up to the light heavyweight division and challenge Prochazka in a ‘champ vs champ’ contest.
