“Pure Hollywood right there” – Despite being sidelined by injury, Brian Ortega trends among netizens for WILD flying triangle choke stunt

Former featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega specializes in submission and flexibility. Ortega is one of the most skilled submission artists in the history of the UFC. Ortega trains with BJJ black belt Rener Gracie and has learned a lot from him. Fans have resurfaced a video of Ortega training with Gracie at his open workout.

The video started off with Ortega flexing his submission and grappling skills against his training partner. He then goes on to lie on his back in a defensive position and jumps up acrobatically without any support from the ground. Ortega then takes his partner back to the ground and gets back up quickly to jump and get a flying triangle choke locked in around his partner’s neck. This impressive stunt from Ortega gained a lot of appreciation from the fans present in the crowd.

Ortega was training for his title shot against then-featherweight champion Max Holloway which would have been his first-ever title fight. However, Holloway pulled out from the fight after facing concussion-like symptoms. The fight was rescheduled five months later at UFC 231 where Holloway defended his title and ended Ortega’s 14-fight win streak.

Ortega’s last fight against Yair Rodriguez ended in an upset for T-City as he faced a major shoulder injury due to which he has not been able to compete. He is still a top contender in the featherweight division, and he will be looking to get back in the win column soon. He is a very exciting fighter to watch, and he is always a threat to submit his opponents.
