UFC lightweight Bryce Mitchell stunned fans with a jaw-dropping story during a recent appearance on the Overdogs Podcast. The fighter detailed an uncanny encounter where he allegedly choked out a deer after an unsuccessful attempt to shoot it.
Mitchell explained what happened to Mike Perry and Josh McLean. “Thug Nasty” said, “I went real quiet. I waited till it went back to sleep, and I went real quiet down the deer stand. And uh I remembered halfway down the deer stand I thinking man I need my Hatchet. Because I do carry a hatchet on me when I’m out there, but I left my Hatchet up top in the stand so I said f*ck it I’m just going to use my hands.” Philip Rowe was also the guest on the podcast, and Rowe, along with Perry and McLean, was shocked to hear about it.
Mitchell is known for his grappling prowess inside the cage. He has often shared stories of his adventurous life outside of it. However, this tale of choking the deer has certainly raised eyebrows more than any other. Mitchell most recently defeated Dan Ige at UFC Fight Night 228. It was a rebound victory after his first professional defeat to Ilia Topuria at UFC 282.
Thug Nasty’s loss to Topuria elevated the stardom of Topuria. Topuria would go on to headline a fight night event against Josh Emmet, thoroughly dominating the former interim title challenger. The Georgian is presumed to challenge for the featherweight title in his next bout. Henry Cejudo insinuated that the bout is set for January 2024.
Bryce Mitchell vows to defeat Ilia Topuria in a rematch
UFC 282 was a tough night to forget for Bryce Mitchell. The then-undefeated fighter would go on to lose to Ilia Topuria via submission. The fight was a battle between two undefeated prospects. The win escalated Topuria to a title shot after the Georgian defeated Josh Emmet. Since the loss, Mitchell was adamant that his decision to fight Topuria with a compromised health condition caused him to lose.
In a recent appearance in the Overdogs Podcast, Mitchell vowed to defeat Topuria if a rematch happens. He cited that he felt the Topuria in the ground at UFC 282 and believed the Georgian would not get up if the Arkansas native were healthy. He credited Topuria for the win but ultimately believed he was better than the presumed next title challenger.
Ilia Topuria is primed to face Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title. They faced off each other after Volkanovski defeated Yair Rodriguez at UFC 290. Henry Cejudo recently did a prediction video on YouTube, picking the Georgian over the Australian.
