Darren Till might just not be in the right place of his mindset as he deals with another injury that cancels his fight against Jack Hermansson for the second time consecutively. Till is also in a tough phase of his career ever since he stepped up from welterweight to middleweight, having secured only 1 win since 2019. Till last fought in September 2021 when he was submitted in the third round by Derek Brunson. Till’s last win came at UFC 244 when he defeated Kelvin Gastelum via split decision.

Till regardless has notable wins in welterweight over the likes of Stephen Thompson and Donald Cerrone. He was also the title challenger at 170 lbs. However, middleweight is where he feels the strongest so it’s all about improving on his skills right now. A few months ago Till did go to Sweden leaving his home country of England in order to train at the All Stars Training Center alongside UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev. The training centre is also the home of other UFC fighters such as Alexander Gustafsson.

In a video on one of his Youtube channels, MMA Legend Chael Sonnen reacts to Till’s current situation of being depressed due to getting sidelined from fighting back time and again due to injuries. Sonnen was all praise about Till’s ability to overcome adversity so far in his career.

“I like a guy who’s smart, I like a guy who knows his surroundings,” says Sonnen “Darren Till just taking the risk and the inconvenience to go out to Sweden and get held down by Chimaev and company. These are positive signs. This is a guy who’s willing to fight for his career, his position. He knows he is gonna have to do some hard work and take some real sacrifices,” concludes Sonnen.
