MMA Legend Chael Sonnen is high on promoting the upcoming heavyweight clash between Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes on his Youtube channel as he believes that the significance of the fight is much more than the audience can assess on seeing. Blaydes is a longtime UFC heavyweight who’s been fighting the top competition for more than 6 years and is known for his wins over the likes of Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov, Chris Daukaus and many more. Blaydes is a seasoned wrestler with underrated striking skills and therefore can mix his ground game well with his stand-up arsenal.
Tom Aspinall is one of the fastest rising prospects in UFC history. He is the son of Andy Aspinall who is one of the first black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from England. In one of the videos on his Youtube channel, Chael Sonnen talks about his winner pick for UFC London main event but more so, educates the MMA Community about the importance of this matchup in the heavyweight division whose champion is currently Cameroon’s knockout artist Francis Ngannou.
“This is a true #1 contenders match,” says Sonnen “[If] all the matches are booked at the heavyweight, what is the one that is most competitive if one of these had to be a #1 contenders match? All the ones that are booked, who should it be? And they would tell you unanimously. Curtis Blaydes vs Tom Aspinall,” he concluded.
