Former Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou left the UFC after failing to come to terms with a new contract. He has been negotiating for future fights and the money involved in the free agency. However, he has yet to agree to a new fight after this much time. Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen thinks Ngannou may have overplayed his hand and should regret not agreeing on a new UFC contract.

Chael said, “Let me put this in perspective for you: this is a very big deal. Three days ago was April 1 and they put out an April 1 joke. Tyson Fury put out an April 1 joke on social media that he and Francis was done, and they are fighting in Wembley on May 15. Tyson Fury made a joke. Francis has changed his whole life. His whole life is different because he thought he was going to make up a sport and do it with a guy who is now using it as an April Fool’s joke. What ever has happened here? He’s got to get some cold water. He has to wake up, and he needs to call back his boss.

Francis Ngannou has not fought since his decision victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in 2022. He had surgery and appears to have recovered from the injury. However, his money demands and boxing interest may have stumbled upon his future. A year has passed, and he has yet to find a new promotion to fight or a promoter in boxing has yet to sign him.

Chael Sonnen thinks that Ngannou made a mistake, especially after Tyson Fury made a joke on April Fool’s Day. Fury fooling around made the truth become very evident that Ngannou returning to the UFC remains the best option for the former champion.  As the story catches more steam, Chael Sonnen will continue to dish out his comments on his Youtube channel.

PFL continues to put on significant MMA events in the US and looks set to compete with Bellator for being the second-best promotion in the world. PFL President Ray Sefo wants to expand his roster and wants to sign Francis Ngannou to their stacked roster.

Sefo said, “We’ve had a few meetings with Francis and those discussions are still going on. Obviously, there’s a few other things he also wants to pursue which is boxing and he knows where we stand with it too so, you know, it’s all positive should I say, right? To be quite honest, I would love to have him in the season but again, it’s no surprise he’s a pay-per-view kind of guy, and so I think that’s kind of up to him where we go with that.”

Ray Sefo has clarified that there is interest in signing Francis Ngannou. However, there have been rumours about huge money demands could be a stumbling block for any deals to be made.
