UFC fighter Jake Shields is known to be good friends with the Diaz brothers. He has trained with both Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz at Fairtex SF under Cesar Gracie. He is also famous for developing American Jiu-Jitsu which is a combination of BJJ submissions and wrestling skills. Shield’s shared the story of how he sparred with Nick Diaz after smoking weed.

Shields spoke about how he smoked before sparring with Diaz and instantly regretted it. He said he felt stuck in his headgear and was trying to figure out how to get out. He said, “ There was a moment right before we started, oh sh*t I don’t want to do this, what can I do to get out of this sparring session“. He was then fine after he got into momentum.

Shields has competed in multiple weight classes throughout his career, including welterweight and middleweight, and also has a black belt in BJJ. His most notable wins are against Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, and Dan Henderson. He has also competed in various MMA promotions, including Strikeforce, EliteXC, and the UFC.

He fought against Nick in a highly anticipated bout at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Shields for the Strikeforce welterweight championship bout. The fight went the distance, with Shields emerging as the winner via unanimous decision.

Georges St Pierre believes Nick Diaz is the biggest fight for December return

The MMA community is ecstatic as former welterweight champion and legend Georges St Pierre is set to return in December for a grappling match. Fans are linking GSP’s opponent to many UFC stars from former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmamogedov, Anderson Silva or Jiu Jitsu expert Gordon Ryan. He believes Diaz will be the best fight in terms of promotion.

Diaz and GSP were scheduled to fight at UFC 137 but Diaz missed several pre-fight promotional events, resulting in his removal from the main event. They finally fought at UFC 158 where GSP dominated Diaz with his superior grappling skills and wrestling expertise. Even though he lost Diaz impressed the fans with his toughness and durability.

Diaz last fought at UFC 266 against Robbie Lawler where he lost as Lawler dominated him and TKO’ed him. Fans are eager to see the Stockton fighter back in the octagon as soon as possible as his fighting style and charisma are loved by fans all over the world.
