Charles Oliveira responds “Dad’s coming” to Islam Makhachev questioning if he would show up to the massive UFC 280 PPV
Makhachev and Oliveira will main event UFC 280
Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira are set to fight each other at UFC 280. Before they meet in the middle of the octagon, the two men have already committed themselves to stay on their passive-aggressive verbal warpath right until fight night.
The latest in this series of back-and-forth insults between the two athletes came from Makhachev himself. A few weeks ago, his teammate and now coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov had put out a prediction that he felt Oliveira would not show up to Abu Dhabi.
Now, two weeks from the event, with Oliveira still not having entered the country, Makhachev expressed fear that Nurmagomedov’s prediction might turn out right. He shared a screenshot of an article that said Oliveira would be in the country 20 days before the event.
“2 weeks before the fight, Charles and his team not in Abu Dhabi yet., should I start [to]worry ? “, read the caption of Makhachev’s post, expressing fear over losing his long-awaited title shot. However, he soon got his answer from the Brazilian.
Charles Oliveira responds to Islam Makhachev
A few hours after Makhachev’s post, ‘Do Bronx’ strapped in and fired his reply. His team and him having dyed their hair blonde, are ready to take on the upcoming fight week. Oliveira posted a picture of himself on Instagram holding a sign that read, “I’m coming to Abu Dhabi“
However, more interesting than the picture was the caption itself. In his native Portuguese, it read, “Calm down, dad is coming”, addressing the massive difference in UFC experience between the two. He ended the message with a simple, ” Hello Abu Dhabi, “ which will be his home for the next 2 weeks.

Oliveira and Makhachev have been butting heads ever since the fight was announced. During his campaign to get the title shot, Makhachev looked to humiliate Oliveira saying, “Nobody understands him”, referring to the fact that the Brazilian rarely speaks English.
Oliveira for his part has said that he feels Makhachev and his entire team are often too prideful even warning them at a point saying, “their arrogance will be their downfall”
