If you had asked MMA fans to name the future champion of the division a few years back, Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira would have never been the favorite to do so. An underdog his entire life, Oliveira has managed to change his career around so amazingly that is incomprehensible to even legends like Daniel Cormier.
Ahead of his lightweight title fight at UFC 280, Oliveira talks to DC about his sudden change in career trajectory. “How does he make world-class fighters look average?” asked Cormier in the interview with Oliveira with the help of his translator. “Until they understand this, nothing is going to make sense to them,” said the amazing lightweight fighter.
“I don’t feel nervous, I don’t feel pressure under the moment, I don’t let it slip away, and that’s it,” said Oliveira on his mantra to success in recent years. Oliveira will now face Islam Makachev in a lightweight title fight at UFC 280 which will be held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Heading into UC 280, Oliveira is on an 11-fight winning streak. The longest winning streak in the lightweight division. In his winning streak, the Brazilian has come across some of the best lightweights to grace the octagon and has put them away with ease. In his last five fights, Oliveira has four wins by submission and one by decision.
In his last five fights, Oliveira has taken on the likes of Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. None of them have managed to stop “Do Bronx”. They have all come close but failed in the end. Oliveira has been in three title fights and has won them all.
If not for his weigh-in mishap at UFC 274, Oliveira would currently be the champ of the division. Oliveira’s record in the UFC is no easy feat.
