Charles Oliveira is ready to wait a little more before fighting for the lightweight championship. Oliveira is expected to fight Islam Makhachev soon if he defeats Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. However, the fighter is more inclined toward the big-money fight with Conor McGregor.
Charles Oliveira recently spoke with MMA Fighting, where the fighter shared that he has a strong desire to fight with Conor McGregor. According to Oliveira, the McGregor fight was too much money to avoid, and it provided a financial boost. Moreover, ‘Do Bronx’ revealed he did not fear Makhachev and planned to fight him next after the McGregor bout.
I would absolutely go with Conor because of the money. It happened in the past with Poirier and everybody criticized him. You're putting way too much money in your bank account to live a good life, and then you're fighting for the title. It doesn't make any difference.Charles Oliveira via MMA Fighting

Oliveira also mentioned wanting to fight McGregor. However, the Irishman went on to fight Dustin Poirier twice. McGregor is the biggest draw in UFC, and Oliveira has a great fan following too. On paper, it already looks like a huge PPV event and a super fight. However, the chances of McGregor accepting the fight against Oliveira remain low.
Currently, Oliveira is scheduled to fight at the upcoming historic UFC 300 against contender Arman Tsarukyan. The hype around the fight is huge, and many believe it has a title eliminator implications. Makhachev is most probably coming back in June for a title defense. However, it seems like, even if Oliveira wins, he doesn’t want to fight the ‘Dagestani’ before the McGregor fight.
Charles Oliveira reveals why Conor McGregor will never accept his callout
Charles Oliveira has spoken in detail about his interest in fighting Conor McGregor. However, ‘Do Bronx’ isn’t sure at all about the super fight ever taking place. McGregor has not given any reaction to the former lightweight and doesn’t seem to be bothered by the callout.

In the same interview with MMA Fighting, the Brazilian fighter revealed that the monetary wealth of McGregor might result in the fight not happening.
I honestly think Conor’s life is set financially. He knows damn well it is a fight I really wanted because of the attention it would generate and the money I would make. But he is no fool, he will never take this fight. He thinks too much and he has a good strategy. He only goes where he is very certain he can win.Charles Oliveira via MMA Fighting
While McGregor has confirmed that he will fight later this year, Michael Chandler remains the only option at the moment. McGregor and Chandler coached the TUF season 31 together. There was much animosity between them, and fans wanted to witness a conclusion to their feud. As such, Oliveira might not receive the opportunity to fight the Irishman anytime soon.
