Chatri Sityodtong believes the One Championship is much more entertaining and competitive in comparison to the UFC. ONE Championship has become a prominent mixed martial arts (MMA) organization based in Singapore. It is known for hosting MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing events throughout Asia and has gained recognition as one of the leading MMA promotions in the region.
The CEO of the promotion, Chatri Sityodtong, is known to be very vocal about his competition, the UFC, and never leaves any opportunity to criticize the American-based promotion. In a recent interview, Sityodtong claimed that One Championship is more famous among fight fans for its excitement and entertainment value.
He said, “I think most fans will say now that ONE is the most exciting promotion…the UFC, is very sloppy, mediocre-ish striking because they’re not strikers…That’s what makes us different. If you look at our roster, I think UFC has about 700 athletes and so do we. Around there. But if you look at the number of world championship titles that our athletes have won before they joined ONE, it’s like half the organization.”
According to Sityodtong, the UFC has some average and slow strikers who, due to their wrestling backgrounds, are not providing entertaining bouts. The founder of One Championship also expressed that most of the fighters in his promotion are ex-champions, which makes their roster a lot more competitive than that of the UFC.
Dana White brings One Championship blunder to his ongoing beef with Stephen Espinoza
UFC President Dana White and Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza have been engaged in a feud, consistently taking jabs at each other ever since the significant Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match.
Recently, there has been a resurgence of animosity between them. Dana White celebrated the alleged decline of Showtime Boxing, while Stephen Espinoza responded by stating that the UFC has never achieved a gate revenue of $20 million throughout its history, whereas Showtime Boxing has accomplished this feat three times since April.
Out of the blue, Dana White used his Twitter account to mock Stephen Espinoza once more, this time by sharing an incident following a production error that occurred during ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham last weekend.
White claimed that Stephen Espinoza must have been responsible for this production error, as he’s not that good at his job. This diss from Dana White is a reference to his ongoing dislike for Showtime Boxing’s production quality. White constantly criticizes Showtime’s subpar production whenever the opportunity arises.
