Chris Weidman
UFC fighter Chris Weidman has recently revealed that he might return to the Octagon after over a year. Chris Weidman is a middleweight fighter and ranks #14 in the UFC. Chris Weidman last fought in the octagon against Uriah Hall at UFC 261 in which he suffered a horrific leg injury.
Chris Weidman fought Uriah Hall in April 2021, where he suffered a gruesome leg injury and leg was broken into two pieces. The fight ended within seconds after Chris suffered an injury in the 1st round.
The injury required the former champion to undergo over one surgery to fix the leg. With such a brutal injury and Weidman approaching his 40s, many wondered if he’d ever return to the cage. Now, almost a year later, the 37-year-old has confirmed his intention to return to the cage.
During a conversation with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Weidman revealed that he’s already back in training and hopes that he will return to action by this summer.
Weidman said: “This summer is realistic. I was thinking before June, I’m going to need a little bit more time than that, to be honest. I think within the next month, the strength of my legs comes back to where I could really like push off of it the way I want to and I’m comfortable, like in sparring. I would like to get in like an eight-week, almost mock training to see how I feel and really push the body.”
