Colby Covington made a big statement about his future fights involving lightweight fighters Conor McGregor and Islam Makhachev. The former champion is among the best fight promoters on the UFC roster. Colby ignited fan interest after he told James Lynch about a potential bout with Makhachev and McGregor.

‘Chaos’ will fight against Leon Edwards in a title match later this year. He told Lynch about potential opponents to look out for. Colby Covington said, “The guy that’s cutting off chromosomes from his body trying to kill his body, Islam Makhachev, might come up. Champion versus champion… Drago versus Rocky, so there’s some great storylines with that fight, you know, and then obviously Conor, and you know, he is always in the play.”

Covington has been in the headlines since UFC 286. The UFC president Dana White called Colby to weigh in as the backup fighter for the trilogy bout between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. Dana White and Hunter Campbell decided to reward Colby with the next title shot.

Colby has not fought since his dominant decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. He will fight later this year against Edwards for the welterweight title match. However, he must shake off any ring rust if he wants to win the UFC welterweight title after nearly 18 months of inactivity.

Covington gave a glimpse of his desired future opponents if he secured the welterweight title to James Lynch. He had lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Irish superstar Conor McGregor on his list.

Colby said, “There’s a lot of other bigger fights after I win my world title who I’m gonna defend against first. So it could be, you know, the Leon rematch, but he’s not gonna want it after I break him in that UFC Octagon. He’s never going to want to rematch, you know. It could be a Usman Trilogy if he’s still hobbling around and not fully retired yet, you know. Conor is always in play. He’s right there, you know.

‘Choas’ indicated his desire to fight former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for the third time. However, it remains in theory as Colby does not possess the welterweight title. Dana White and the UFC will happily let Colby choose his opponents if he can secure the title from Edwards.
