Colby Covington is confident in his victory over Leon Edwards at UFC 296. ‘Chaos’ revealed the measures he is taking to make sure he secures his victory in the octagon.
Colby Covington revealed that he was training in Colorado, one of the most elevated states in America. In the first episode of UFC 296 ‘Embedded,’ Covington said:
We've been here for about a week now. We've done, you know, a lot of training out here. And that's helped elevate our cardio and our game to another level. Because when you're training at, you know, at almost 10,000 feet above sea level, it just, you know you have to work harder with your lungs. Colby Covington confidently stated in that video that no man was going to stop him from winning. Especially, when former US President Donald Trump will be present in the arena. Covington has spent time with Trump before the fight, and Trump himself has confirmed his attendance to support Covington’s bid for the undisputed welterweight title.
Colby Covington expressed his intent to put the championship belt around Trump’s waist after the anticipated victory.
Colby Covington and Leon Edwards will headline the main event of UFC 296 for the UFC welterweight title. The fight has garnered attention due to its high stakes. The matchup is anticipated to be intense, given the history and skills of both fighters.
Leon Edwards secured the UFC Welterweight Championship by defeating Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 with a fifth-round TKO. Since then Edwards has maintained an impressive undefeated streak.
Colby Covington criticizes Ian Garry amid controversy
Colby Covington has criticized Ian Garry, responding to Garry’s trash talk in a recent interview. Covington, known for his straightforward responses, addressed the Irishman’s criticism during an interview with James Lynch.

Ian Garry and his wife Layla Anna-Lee have faced backlash due to Layla’s book on dating athletes. The response from some of the UFC fighters along with the internet has sparked debates in the MMA community. The couple got married in February 2022 and welcomed their first child in October of the same year.
Amid the controversy, Layla Anna-Lee responded to criticism with a statement, addressing the backlash received for her book. However, this was not as well received as she might have hoped.
Additionally, Covington mocked Garry as a “sensitive soy boy” for handling recent backlash and disabling comments on social media. However, Covington does not expect to fight Garry soon, expressing his opinion that Garry is a “complete bum.”
