Belal Muhammad remains confident about winning the welterweight championship against Leon Edwards at the rumored UFC 300 fight. If so, Conor McGregor’s long-awaited opportunity at the 170-pound belt would be denied. This would pave the way for a fight between Muhammad and emerging star Shavkat Rakhmonov.

In an interview with Jon Anik, Belal Muhammad discussed his take on Conor Mcgregor and his welterweight title shot. He believed that the UFC would grant him a title shot if Conor wins in his upcoming fight against Michael Chandler. However, Belal was skeptical about the weight class of the Chandler vs. McGregor fight. This is what he had to say:

Im pretty sure he [Conor] can end up being 170. I feel like that makes more sense than anything and i can see him trying to fight there and hope to get a title shot right off something like that. I can see something like that working, just because he is Conor., if he comes out with a big finish, the UFC will make it, yeah. But definitely not 185… Bully doesn’t like anyone to skip the line, Shavkat will be next.
