UFC superstar Conor McGregor has fans excited once again. McGregor recently took to Instagram to tease fans about a ‘big’ announcement. McGregor has remained sidelined from the fight scene for over two years now. He expressed frustrations on the UFC not booking a fight for him. Amidst this, the Irishman dropped this teaser.
In an Instagram post, McGregor teased a big announcement with Cristiano Ronaldo and Turki Alalshikh. Last weekend, the three sat together at the ‘Day of Reckoning’ boxing event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In his Instagram caption, McGregor wrote:
Legendary evening of Boxing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia! ?? BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS COMING. @turkialalshik @cristianoConor McGregor via Instagram
During the event, McGregor was asked about a potential boxing match by Alalshikh, Saudi Arabia’s minister of entertainment. McGregor leaned across Ronaldo to call out Manny Pacquiao, asking Manny to “grow a set of balls” and fight him at a higher weight class. Also, the interaction between McGregor and Ronaldo went viral on social media.
Some fans noted that Ronaldo didn’t seem happy about the seating arrangement, facing away from McGregor as he sat down. However, Ronaldo shared an Instagram post of the two laughing together, dispelling rumors of tension.
Conor McGregor calls out Manny Pacquiao in Saudi Arabia
Conor McGregor has called out Manny Pacquiao for a fight. The former UFC champion took to Twitter to challenge the eight-division world champion, saying that he would “make it happen” if Pacquiao agreed to the fight. He also took the opportunity in Saudi Arabia to call out the Phillipian boxer.
McGregor has a professional boxing record of 0-1, losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017. Pacquiao, on the other hand, has a record of 62-8-2, with 39 knockouts. He is the only eight-division world champion in boxing history. A potential bout between McGregor and Pacquiao would require sanction from the UFC. The UFC does not like to co-promote.
It is unclear if Pacquiao will accept McGregor’s challenge. However, if he does, it would be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor’s UFC comeback will likely return in the summer of 2024. However, fans hope McGregor will fight on the historic UFC 300 card.
