Conor McGregor is the biggest star in UFC history. With sheer hard work and determination, he climbed the ladder to become probably the most recognized name in mixed martial arts. However, in a recent interview, McGregor highlighted the perks of being with the UFC that propelled him to world-class success. Here is what happened:
Conor McGregor recently sat down with TNT Sports and talked about his illustrious UFC career.
But it's the UFC brand value, and that holds mega weight. Look at how it has worked out for me. It has helped me, it has helped catapult me into many arenas where I have succeeded immensely."Conor McGregor via TNT Sports
McGregor made his professional MMA debut at Cage of Truth 2 in 2008. His career gained momentum with a featherweight championship in CWFC. Eventually, The Notorious made his UFC debut in 2013 and after this, his career took off.
He fought top contenders in the sport, became a double champion, and the face of the UFC. McGregor then transitioned to boxing where he fought Floyd Mayweather, and launched his own liquor company, sold it for millions of dollars, and opened his own pub. Most recently McGregor made his Hollywood debut in the 2024 remake of the movie Road House along with superstar Jake Gyllenhaal.
Conor Mcgregor’s plans for his MMA career
Conor McGregor has two fights left on his UFC contract. He has not fought in years and is itching to make a comeback. However, there has barely been any development regarding setting up a fight for McGregor and fans began to speculate that his career was coming to an end.
However, the Irish superstar has no plans of retiring whatsoever. McGregor told Adam Catteral at TNT Sports that he cannot call it quits from fighting until he is dead. Meanwhile, things are getting back into action and according to Cody Durden’s leak, McGregor will make his comeback this June against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. Chandler himself has been waiting for years in anticipation of this fight. Considering he is 37 years old, it might be his last shot at a big paycheck, and as such worth the risk of waiting it out.
It will be interesting to see McGregor fight in the octagon again after almost three years. Will McGregor win against Michael Chandler? Who will McGregor fight for his last UFC matchup? Will the UFC renew McGregor’s contract? Only time will tell.
