Conor McGregor and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez recently engaged in a feud on X. McGregor and Alvarez are currently the biggest names in MMA and boxing, respectively. What stemmed the feud was McGregor retweeting an X post video from Roots of Combat which praised Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s performance against Alvarez.
McGregor retweeted the video post with the caption, “One of the greatest performances in Professional Boxing this was. I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo. I’d love another go.” Interestingly, in the tweet, McGregor praised boxing rival, Mayweather Jr. The tweet did not go well with the Mexican boxer.
He responded with, “I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches,” with a laughing emoji. This tweet agitated the former UFC champion which led to the response, “Saul you uncooked chicken, I’ll stomp the ligaments out of your knee joint. I don’t even need hands to end you, I’ll kick you raw pink, leave you looking like you were left out in the sun too long haha freckle ar*e. I will see you and we will see. Canelo is a cornflake, no sugar.”
Both McGregor and Alvarez have a history with the undefeated boxer, Floyd MayweatherJunior. Canelo Alvarez lost a majority decision to the master of Philly Shell. On the other hand, McGregor suffered a 10th-round TKO in the Irishman’s boxing debut. For Alvarez, the loss was the first in his professional boxing career. Critics are of the opinion that the loss to Mayweather was what made Alvarez into the superstar he is now.
McGregor’s superstardom began with the bout, earning him millions. After successfully entering business ventures like Proper 12 Whiskey, McGregor is expected to make his long-awaited return. It is presumably against Michael Chandler at UFC 300 following his injury at UFC 264.
Henry Cejudo weighed in on his take on UFC-USADA split over Conor McGregor
Former UFC double champion, Henry Cejudo recently discussed the UFC’s decision to part ways with USADA. He highlighted potential legal implications and hinted at a possible lawsuit. Cejudo also mentioned Conor McGregor’s 37 clean tests. This shift in UFC’s drug testing stance might now question these results.
Cejudo shared his own experience, undergoing 82 tests himself. He stressed the importance of consistent drug testing. Rumors suggest the UFC might allow experimental medicines for faster injury recovery. Cejudo strongly advised against this. He compared UFC’s status to the NBA and NFL. The UFC hasn’t responded to Cejudo’s comments yet. However, the future of drug testing in combat sports remains a hot topic.
There are rumors that Cejudo will fight Merab Dvalishvili in January. Both Dvalishvili and Cejudo hold rankings within the top 5 of the UFC’s bantamweight division.
Cejudo is determined to stage a comeback after his split decision loss at UFC 288. He missed out on the title against the then-champion, Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288.
