Even away from the action, superstar Conor McGregor reigns undefeated in the minds and hearts of fans. The 22-6 former two-division titleholder has been on the shelf for a little over 29 months or so. McGregor, 35, took to his IG stories to announce the “greatest comeback of all time“. Which is to take place during the UFC’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas. This comes after his recent badgering of Dana White and Co. on his “patience wearing thin“; UFC is yet to confirm this though. Ahead of this, the fighter has received his own request as well.

The Dubliner, away from the Octagon, maintains his status quo as a successful business entrepreneur. He also is an avid MMA promoter, a philanthropic socialite, and has co-judged the reality show TUF Season 31, along with opposition Michael Chandler, who he faces next. He has also backed the extended Riyadh Season boxing, while in attendance. But here’s a more peculiar, yet rooted request the fighter recently received:

Hey!! @TheNotoriousMMA you were always my favorite brothers fighter he fought Kidney disease for over 5yrs he kept fighting Jan 3th at 4:18am he was gone…If you could send me a warm message it will mean alot I'll make sure to read it at his funeral @TheNotoriousMMA

The heartfelt appeal comes from a fan account on X – @JesusSanchez361, a fellow fighter of Celiac disease (long-term autoimmune disorder). And an apparent MMA enthusiast. As such fighters do get entwined in a multitude of requests; but this one springs from a special place. Apparently, McGregor had shared a dialogue with the brothers before as well.

McGregor, out of the ring, maintains a vivid transition of dialogue going on with his fans. “The Notorious” is notoriously infamous for his unhinged voice notes and tweets on a plethora of issues. Alongside, he is also known to time and again interact with fans. Hence there is a chance the returning fighter might oblige.

A short but comprehensive history of Conor McGregor’s philanthropy

Conor McGregor is not a name one disregards out of hand. The fighter is famous, both in and out of the ring. The Irishman recently announced his return to UFC, against Michael Chandler. Leading up to that, the fighter has kept quite busy though. In 2019, McGregor took to X to share the work he’s doing to help the homeless. The Dubliner revealed that he was “back on-site” to help finish the construction of eight houses, which will provide shelter for families without homes.

Previously, his company had pushed forward for a 113-unit apartment block in Drimnagh, Dublin for The Large Scale Residential Development (LRD) application. More recently, McGregor made his philanthropic endeavor addressing the housing crisis known. At the onset of the global pandemic, he was a vocal supporter of health workers from his home country. In May 2020, McGregor personally delivered $1 million worth of PPE kits to help Irish hospitals in their fight against COVID-19. The fighter even shared a dialogue with the Irish Minister Paschal Donohoe on such.

In 2020, after financial problems caused by the global pandemic, an SBG brand in Ireland was closing. McGregor contacted his former training partner and SBG Portarlington owner Philip Mulpeter when he heard the news. The UFC star kept his promise to maintain its upkeep. Alongside, he has also been engaging in food drives and other such endeavors. One thing is undeniably sure; Conor McGregor is a champion of his people, albeit his inactive fighting status.
