Conor McGregor recently did an interview with Marc Raimondi on ESPN. There, he talked about his potential comeback this year and the possibility of re-signing with the UFC. This is what McGregor said:

What's next? I don't know.... There's been no talk of a re-sign. How would you even approach someone like me to re-sign? What would that look like? Lorenzo probably would've been at my door two fights ago, maybe, to re-sign me. I'm two fights out now so I don't know what way they're going to go.

McGregor speculated that maybe the UFC officials want to see how things play out. McGregor expressed confidence in having at least one fight this year, although he would prefer two. He revealed wanting a fight in September and that he suggested Nate Diaz. The UFC star suggested it as a perfect matchup to headline the Las Vegas Sphere on Mexican Independence Day.

It might surprise the fanbase if McGregor fights Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 (International Fight Week card). Chandler vowed to break McGregor’s actual spirit and soul, thus building up excitement for this upcoming fight. Hence, the rivalry between the both makes it a stellar choice to headline the International Fight Week card.

Both fighters have not fought in a long time. Chandler has not fought since 2022 and McGregor broke his leg in 2021. The return of McGregor will have a significant impact on ticket sales and PPV buy rate. The UFC will likely announce the fight sooner rather than later.
