Conor McGregor‘s manager, Audie Attar, is optimistic about the Irish fighter’s comeback. He assures fans that his client will follow all the necessary procedures. Having recently wrapped up Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Michael Chandler, McGregor is expected to square off with Chandler. The show will continue till August of this year. This comes after McGregor’s last bout, in which he suffered a leg injury and lost to Dustin Poirier in 2021.
However, some concerns have arisen as McGregor has not yet submitted a sample in 2023. This is as per protocol by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for fighters. They need to be in the testing pool for six months before a fight unless an exemption is granted by the UFC. Nevertheless, Attar confirms that they are in active discussions with USADA. They seek to resolve the matter and believe things are heading in the right direction.
Attar points out that McGregor was extensively tested during his competitive days. He emphasizes that they are committed to doing things correctly. He also dismisses the rampant speculations about McGregor’s return, stating that Conor is genuinely preparing for a comeback in 2024.
Many lightweight contenders have discouraged Michael Chandler from pursuing a fight with McGregor. “Chandler makes sense, but so do others,” McGregor’s manager said. But Attar reveals that Chandler is the primary opponent McGregor is focused on after their appearance together on TUF. “…but Chandler is who he has his sights set on. We did that show knowing that that match-up would be next.”
Conor McGregor’s manager updates fans on probable UFC comeback
Despite facing criticism, Attar has full confidence in McGregor’s ability to silence his doubters. The team is dedicated to staying focused and preparing diligently, with Chandler being the likely opponent for McGregor’s return. As he mentioned, McGregor’s team anticipated this matchup after their joint appearance on the show.
Regarding the timeline of McGregor’s return, Attar suggests that it is more probable in early 2024. He doesn’t completely rule out the chance of a late 2023 comeback. However, the current plan aligns with the UFC‘s vision of having McGregor return at the beginning of the following year. “You can’t rule out the end of the year, but…it’s likely going to be 2024,” he mentions.
In conclusion, Conor McGregor’s manager has provided a glimpse of hope for fans. They wait in patience as McGregor gears up for a potential return to the Octagon. Meanwhile, Mcgregor is involved in other ventures as well. These include promoting his upcoming movie Road House alongside Bollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
