“Still Am” Conor McGregor reacts to his iconic unstoppable featherweight run in a deleted tweet
McGregor tweets he is as unstoppable as his lightweight days, deletes tweet later
Win or lose, Conor McGregor will still be the biggest money machine the sport of Mixed Martial Arts has ever produced. While gone are the glory days of “Mystic Mac” when he predicted the rounds he would knock out his opponents to go and do just that, the name McGregor alone can fill up any arena and sell out PPVs for the years to come. However, one person who still thinks “The Mystic Mac” is still alive, none other than Conor himself.
While too many new fans may associate McGregor to only be a big-money trash talker, there is a reason he managed to sustain his career for almost 3 years on losing streaks. Back when Conor entered the UFC’s featherweight division he went on a legendary 7- fight tear-up through the division all the way to the title.
In this run McGregor made easy work of generational talents like Max Holloway, Jose Aldo, Dustin Poirier and Chad Mendes. The fight against Mendes was particularly remarkable as many wrote off Conor who had never faced a serious wrestler before and thought his stand-up could hence be neutralized.

While McGregor did suffer what many thought to be his first vulnerable moment, when he was taken down and kept there by Mendes, he showed that a little resistance never kept the Irish down. While he would be taken down again in the second round, he would manage to scramble out of it against a top grappler like Mendes and ultimately come out with the TKO in the closing seconds of the round.
A fan shared this exact sequence with the caption “Conor McGregor was just unstoppable back then” showing McGregor scrambling back up to his feet at which point the video cuts to the closing second of the round when McGregor finished Mendes. Conor would retweet this with the caption, “I Still Am” notifying the company that he can be that guy whenever he wants
However it seems like Conor was doubting his own strengths as he would later go on to delete the quoted tweet and simply retweet the video. McGregor has been out of action for the past year after he broke his leg at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier. He promised to be back in action once he starts to grapple and kick, he’s begun doing the latter.
