Conor McGregor has a history of feuding with anyone in any weight class. The Irish superstar had a back-and-forth with Justin Gaethje after the American fighter won the BMF title at UFC 291. As mentioned in a recent tweet, McGregor appears to be excited about fighting again. However, Charles Oliveira drew the anger of Conor McGregor in a recent social media interaction.
Conor McGregor wrote, “Fighting is motivation on Twitter.” Oliveira mocked and wrote, “Lol, you are without motivation more than two years.” It rubbed the Irishman the wrong way as he blasted Oliveira referencing the Brazilian’s wealth and title loss. McGregor wrote, “Get off that Lamborghini you broke bum. Recovering from a leg break, you nobody. You are nobody now again.”
Conor McGregor has not fought in over two years. Oliveira is right about one thing if McGregor had the motivation, he would have fought by now or at least have a fight booked. Fans and analysts expected McGregor to fight by July, but it has yet to materialize. No one other than the UFC knows if McGregor will fight in 2023. In the end, McGregor resorted to insults like he usually does.
On the other hand, Charles Oliveira destroyed Beneil Dariush in Canada at UFC 289. He will fight Islam Makhachev in a rematch at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. In the first fight, Makhachev dropped Oliveira and submitted him in the second round. However, Oliveira hopes to beat Makhachev and retain his lightweight title. If he loses, then there could be a chance that he will fight McGregor in the future.
Conor McGregor has an undefeated record against Brazilian fighters
Charles Oliveria should know that a Brazilian has never beaten Conor McGregor. McGregor vs. Oliveira remains possible if Oliveira loses to Makhachev at UFC 293. At that point, Oliveira will only have McGregor as the fresh matchup. Others like Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, and Justin Gaethje are fighters he has already fought.
McGregor defeated Diego Brandão in 2014 and Jose Aldo in 2015. Not only did he defeat the Brazilians, he knocked them out in the first round. Oliveira should be wary of the threat that McGregor poses. There is only a slight chance that Oliveira will fight McGregor. However, if it does happen, Oliveira can get revenge for the Brazilians.
For the time being, Oliveira will fight Makhachev for the lightweight title, and McGregor is rumored to fight Michael Chandler. However, if McGregor does fight Oliveira, fans can hope for an exciting battle between the former champions.
