Having spent the past three years outside of fighting, the MMA world yearned to see ‘The Notorious’ in action. Amidst delay in his comeback, many criqued retirement would serve him well. Now, the Irishman stopped any talks about retirement with a bold statement.

In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Conor McGregor imagined his future after retirement. While the Irishman’s net worth and lucrative opportunities surrounding him could last a lifetime, his heart stayed in the fighting business. As such, he couldn’t digest the fact of stepping away from it. Here is what he said:

I don't really feel like I could ever call it a day to (fighting), until I'm laid out flat and that's it. In a box and going down into the ground - that's when I'll call it a day.

But, the former double champion remained humble about the array of opportunities and looked forward to continuing his fighting career.

Further, Conor McGregor mentioned a quote Mike Tyson stated after his last fight. Here is what the Irishman said:

Look at Mike Tyson now, he is fighting Jake Paul. He fought Roy Jones Jr. also. There you go, that's an older guy...Something that really struck me with Mike Tyson was he was asked in an interview, 'What do you think Cus D'Amato would say to you after all these years, why come back now?' and Tyson said 'What Cus would say to me is what took you so long?' He referenced George St-Pierre’s initial retirement and contemporary fighters like Dustin Poirier and Alexander Volkanovksi to prove his statement.
