Conor McGregor accuses team Khabib Nurmagomedov for steroid usage
UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov recently went on X to express his plight of not getting an opponent. This post received an unexpected comment from UFC star Conor McGregor who accused the Nurmagomedov clan of using PEDs. Although it wasn’t related to Nurmagomedov’s tweet, ‘The Notorious’ took the chance to take a dig at his family because of his infamous beef with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In the now-deleted tweet, Conor McGregor accused four members of Team Khabib Nurmagomedov of getting caught using banned substances. As such, he specifically mentioned the recent bust of Usman Nurmagomedov, the younger brother of Umar Nurmagomedov. Here is what he said:

Usman Nurmagomedov was the Bellator lightweight champion and recently won a one-sided decision to win his second title defense against Brent Primus. However, the athletic commission caught him for using banned substances and overturned the decision to a no-contest. As such, they fined him a sum of $50,000, followed by a six-month suspension. That aside, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev was one of the members Conor McGregor mentioned. He too belonged to Team Khabib who got caught using an illegal substance early in his UFC career.
Although Conor McGregor called out team Khabib Nurmagomedov for PED usage, many accused him of steroid usage during his layoff. However, that didn’t stop him from taking his chance at tarnishing the legacy of team Khabib. As for Umar Nurmagomedov, he wasn’t caught in any of these accusations. As such, he remained a top prospect in the bantamweight division ranked number 14.
Umar Nurmagomedov clarifies the reasons for his inactivity
Umar Nurmagomedov had a lot of hype behind him as he carried the ‘Nurmagomedov’ name on his back. As such, he made sure to deliver through his performance and let actions speak. However, people accused him of taking long breaks between each fight. As such, he addressed the issue in his recent tweet.
In the tweet, Umar Nurmagomedov stated it wasn’t always him who was the reason for long lay-offs and blamed the bantamweight contenders for avoiding him. As such, he said he was ready to fight in the upcoming PPV events but no one from his division raised their hands to fight him.
Umar Nurmagomedov last fought in January 2023 winning his fight against Raoni Barcelos. Since he wanted a ranked opponent, the UFC set him to fight Cory Sandhagen in August 2023. However, he pulled out of the fight citing an injury. Now, with an undefeated record of 16 wins and no losses, he looked forward to fighting up the rankings and earning the UFC gold.
